While the data is US-based, Generation M2 is the most recent in a series of surveys that started in 2010. It shows the daily media diet of youth and is useful to see the impact of new technologies on various age groups and genders. It shows trends in the technology media that youth are connected with and the amount of time they dedicate to each one.
There is no doubt that students spend a great deal of time engaged by technology. As with any tool, there are highs and lows in terms of the use and the impact it has on a student`s development, both in school and at home. There is a growing recognition that students need guidance in the use of technology to highlight the benefits and ensure that they are prepared for a digital world in school, at home, in the workplace, and in our communities.
